Talky Tuesday | Perfectionist or Team “Handmade Charm”?

Hello community!
It’s Tuesday again, so let’s talk about a very familiar crafting moment.

You’re almost done with a project, and then you notice it.
A tiny misalignment, a small detail that’s not quite perfect.
At that point, the question becomes less about skill and more about personality.

Some of us are perfectionists.
If we see it, we have to fix it.
Others are totally fine leaving small imperfections as part of the handmade charm and calling it done.

So now I’m curious:
:sparkles: Are you more of a perfectionist, or team handmade charm?
:scissors: Do you usually fix small mistakes, or let them be?
:thought_balloon: What helps you decide when a project is “good enough”?

Drop your thoughts below.
We’ll randomly pick 3 replies to receive 100 Cheers this week.

See you down there :speech_balloon::sparkles:

I usually think, will I be ok if I receive this item? before I send out my finished product. if the answer is NO then I have to redo it… same principle when I pack orders for shipping… I pack orders the way I want to receive them

For me, it really depends on what the mistake may be. For the most part, I am most definitely a perfectionist. I want my make to be perfect. I have a bit of OCD, so even the tiniest mistake will drive me crazy until I fix it. This especially happens to me when I’m sewing. I’ve ripped out seams many times after I was finished with something and resewn it, because I couldn’t handle a little mistake that I made. Several times, I’ve sewn a tote, to find that one of the handles isn’t set perfectly level between the lining and outer fabric. So, I rip out those seams and do it over, again.

With vinyl, I meticulously try to place everything as straight and centered as possible, and will nervously stare at a project forever before pressing the vinyl, just because I want it to be perfect. There are times that I’ve done that, then adhered the vinyl, only to find that it somehow came out crooked or not centered. However, I just leave those alone, because I don’t want to mess up the project even more trying to remove the vinyl. If I do make an unfixable mistake, I’ll just keep the item for myself, because I want my makes to be absolutely perfect if they’re going to be going to someone else.

It depends on who it’s for I nit pick but I am not perfect some imperfections can be ok most the time they don’t see the imperfections cause they had no idea how it was going to look.

I’m a perfectionist most of the time, especially when it comes to my creations. But I’ve learned that sometimes imperfections are perfect too—because those unexpected results turn into a one-in-a-million chance of ever recreating them.

Here are examples of my tests while working with a professional to digitize my logo. It’s quite a process—which is why it took five attempts to meet my standards.

This morning, I tested a pocket jeans placement, but my bobbin snagged the upper thread and stopped the embroidery. I had to unravel everything, which ended up creating a hole in my logo. It was so frustrating—especially since it happened near the end of the design after I’d already spent over an hour stitching the whole logo. So for now, I’m taking a break and will continue tomorrow. I need this finished for my next YouTube content.
