Itās Tuesday again, time to open up the thread and share a bit of our crafting chaos, lol.
Scraper? Weeding hook? Tweezers? Heat tape?
Thereās always that one tool that disappears right when you need it most,
then magically shows up later like nothing happened.
Sometimes it feels like it fell into a tiny crafting black hole, or maybe it just has a mind of its own.
So tell us:
Whatās the tool that always goes missing right when you need it? Do you have a trick to keep it from running off again? Or have you just accepted that itāll show up when it feels like it?
Share your stories below. Weāll randomly pick 3 replies to receive 100 Cheers this week.
Oh myyy! Newbie here! I thought im the only one who keeps looking around for a thing that i needed most of the time. huhuhu But yeah idk why my scissors are always missing For a moment i am holding it, the next thing i know is i am looking for it But now i made sure that i will never lost it again by putting a tie in it using my old bag strap and wishing no one of my love ones get it LOL.
Oh yesss I even lose my vinyl rolls lol and my trick to find them is to call my husband then theyāre afraid and show up the minute he arrives to my room and I say to him hmmm nothing important
itās the scissors for me too! coz letās face it there is always a favorite one that we like to use
the other day I posted on my FB about searching for a pack of alligator hairclips that I needed⦠Searched all my drawers etc⦠even boxes that I havent opened in years only to find it in my table right in front of me 2 hours later
Funny⦠This happened to me yesterday. I have 3 levels, that are magnetic, that I couldnāt find, as I was trying to make sure my resin table was level. Usually, I look all over for them just to find 2 of them stuck to my desk leg, which is where I used to keep them. One of them stays in a tool kit my husband gave to me. Well, I had moved my toolkit from my cube organizer to inside the drawer of my workbench and forgot about putting it there. So, I wasted a good hour looking for levels yesterday, while singing get on my level, yo, get on my level . Well, eventually, I remembered where I put my toolkit, but, still, I have yet to find the other 2. And, yes, I checked my desk legs, not there. So, idk. Theyāll definitely show up when Iām not looking for them, as you said, like nothing ever happened. Theyāre probably stuck to something metal somewhere that I thought would be a good place for them, but obviously isnāt a good place for them.
I still have not re located a pair of craft scissors have I put them somewhere so smart I forgot the place⦠itās also why I have multiple scissorsā¦. And multiple tool sets for weeding.
Its so funny because this happens to me way too much to keep count. Its never just one tool either but if I had to say my exacto knife. I have to look under everything in the messy workspace I sometimes have. Yesterday I finished organizing my workspace and putting things in drawers so hopefully that works better for me to be able to not lose things so easily anymore
ha ha you know we all have a true story for this event!
Mine is about this little plastic tube that goes over the top of the weeding toolā¦
I keep my weeding tool in the side tool box on my iCraft, but i got sick of taking the little plug off the top, so i took it off and put it away, in February.
BIG MISTAKE (re-enactment, red pen drawn for drama) I was using the iCraft one day and passed my arm over the weeding tool and scratched a long wound on my arm!
do you think i could find that little plastic plug to go back on top of the weeding tool, nope!
well yesterday November, i was cleaning my sewing needle draw and there it was!! i donāt know why i put it there because, i have a dedicated box for iCraft parts LOL
So tell us:
Do you have a trick to keep it from running off again?
Yes, use a dedicated box for iCraft manual, blades and bits and pieces
this is the weeding tool/weapon that scratched my arm
My Daily Storyā¦
The Case of the Missing Tape and Scissors.
They are my ride-or-die tools. And yet, every time I needed them ā poof! Gone. Vanished. Like they had their own little legs and a vendetta against me and my productivity.
I would tear through drawers, flip through all my piles of papers and vinyl, even interrogate the weeding sticks. āWhereād they go?ā Iād mutter, my eyes scanning like a detective in a rhinestone crime scene. No trick, no system, no secret stash. Just vibes and frustration.
And the wildest part? Theyād be right there. In plain sight. Bold as ever. But my brain, fried from a full day of designing, would skip right past them until I crashed out ā only to spot them the moment she sat down with a snack and a sigh.
It became a running joke. āMood: 24:7,ā Iād say, laughing at herself. āIām the CEO of āWhereās my scissors?āā
Iām dreaming up solutions ā maybe a glittery handmade holster? A magnetic board? A neon sign that said, āLOOK HERE, KAY!ā Or maybe Iād just accept the truth: tape and scissors had personalities. They liked to play hide-and-seek. And I am their favorite player.
Because in the end, even when the tools disappeared, my creativity never did. Sometimes I get frustrated & sometimes I just waited patiently, like the tape and scissors, ready to strike when I least expected it.
I donāt seem to lose tools, at least not the physical type. Maybe I was traumatized by my 7th grade cooking teacher that often snarled out the phrase āClean as you go!ā so I use a tool then put it back. However, I could have a week that I have no orders to work on and I just putz around with different ways to do things then all the orders hit at once and Iām multitasking while things are engraving or drying. At that point, I find a moment where I seem to lose my mind and need to regroup to stay on track. My mind is a tool that gets lost from time to time.
Scissors, ruler, cutter⦠always vanishing like they have their own secret life. Thatās why I always put my little container at my side during projects. Toss everything in there when not in use and deal with the mess afterā¦
OMG! I still keep mine and it doesnĀ“t run off, but I was thinking you may replace it with a thin tube that fits. Iām thinking of a cannula, a syringe cap or a thin brush protector tube like this that you can cut. It is not closed but it may do the trickā¦
Iām constantly losing some silly little thing, whether itās the ruler, the scissors, or a little cap. Sometimes it doesnāt even make sense, and I end up wandering around the house trying to remember, but nothing for a while.
Itās so absurd that I end up talking to myself out loud, saying, āI canāt believe it, how is this possible?ā Usually, it reappears, but sometimes the item vanishes, never to be seen again. Sometimes it takes a time to reappear and I get mad with the time Iām loosing searching for it. That is the kind of thing you wish you could make a phone call to and locate⦠but even the mobile is impossible to find when youāre alone and thereās no one around to ask to make you a call
It happened to me recently with the cap for the Impress Auto 2 power cord . Itās not a big deal, but I loved that it existed since itās unplugged most of the time. I still canāt figure it out, and I still think itāll turn up one day when I least expect it, maybe in one of the folders I keep under the machine. I hope it is that, and not the ghost that played with the remote in The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist
