I have the hardest time with layering colors so I am learning If you’re layering colors, press each layer for just 3–5 seconds before the final full press. This prevents shrinkage and keeps alignment crisp.
Do you mean HTV? Yes when layering HTV you should always press the layers for 5 seconds then the final layer you press for the full time. When layering HTV shrinkage still can occur unfortunately, if it does don’t be afraid to cut up additional layers so they fit in the gaps easier. Also a good tip is to try not to have the cover sheet of the htv go over any of the htv that you have already pressed, if you can help it. As this can leave big lines through your HTV.
Good reminder as well, if you are layering HTV once you pull the carrier sheet off, the HTV is left exposed. So make sure you use a Teflon sheet to protect it while you are pressing additional layers.
It’s good practice to also do the cut out method when layering HTV. HTV sticks to the fabric a lot better and longer than it does to itself. So by cutting one layer out of your other layer (cut out method) you can have all your HTV layers bond to your fabric.
Sorry about the information overload lol, sometimes I just can’t help it ![]()
No overload here! I appreciate all the information, especially since I’m new to this, so any and all details are helpful.
