Curious—Do You Use AI to Design for Your Craft Business?

Hey everyone!

I wanted to open up a conversation about something that’s been a total game-changer for me—using AI to help design images for my craft business. I’ve started incorporating AI tools to create and refine designs for things like sublimation, HTV projects, and t-shirt prints, and I’ve honestly seen a huge improvement in both the quality of my work and the time it takes to create something I love.

But I know AI can be a hot topic, and I’m genuinely curious—how do you feel about using AI in your creative process?

  • Do you use AI tools to help with designs, mockups, or brainstorming?
  • Have you found it enhances your creativity—or do you feel it takes away from the handmade, personal aspect of crafting?
  • If you’re against it, I’d love to hear your reasons too—no judgment here, just open discussion!

Personally, I feel like AI has expanded my creative possibilities. I still make all the final decisions, but it’s like having a really helpful assistant who gives me fresh ideas and helps polish up my designs.

Looking forward to hearing what others think!

Here are two shirts I recently made with the help of AI. It took my idea and made it into something I could work with, and then I edited it in Canva. I’m extremely happy with the results and it was EASY.

Interesting topic, ever since the internet started back in the 90’s i have embraced it, it has been the best thing to bring knowledge to my door. I left school at 14 so i didnt learn much at all from there. all my learning has come after school.

Now that Ai is here, i love it too. I don’t often use it for art I like to have a go at being creative, but if i can’t do something or i don’t know something i will get help no matter where it’s from.

I havent done tshirt designs or mockups, but i did use it to create the character for my youtube series in diferent poses.

i’m open to it when the Ai tools become better at what they do (it still make little mistakes)
Like you said, “it’s like having a helpfull assistant”

Nice topic :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I sometimes use AI to improve or enhace the images.

I only use AI as a last resort, such as when I’ve already delivered a product without capturing a picture. If the client sends a less-than-ideal photo, I’ll use AI to create a mockup instead. However, I prefer authentic, naturally captured images and am actively reducing my reliance on AI to achieve this.

AI is a tool, and any tool is welcome. I was very excited about it two years ago; it was mind-blowing and controversial. Now, I feel there’s more “A” than “I” in it, but it’s still a tool worth using. The controversy remains, and I guess it always will, I guess. Just like happened with the internet.

As they say, a tool is just a tool. There’s no inherent morality in it; it all depends on how it’s used and the consequences it brings and how we regulate it.

I´ve used many of them, from Midjourney to Leonardo. I’m using Stable Difussion for Krita locally now, and keep revisiting the rest. But I use it as a tool, not as a mean. They’re not as good as I am :joy: Maybe when they start being more “I” and less “A”. Now they are very dissapointing and many times a waste of time (both text and image).

Jokes aside now, they are trained with common imaginery, so they’re useless when you go the fringes or search for a real Artistic (with a capital A) result. They can outpaint, they can serve as inspiration, as an assist… and then you go and do the real thing.

Love the shirts! As for AI, I am not familiar with it and haven’t used it before. I see other crafters use it as a tool and to created unique designs or mockups. I personally like to design projects on my own since it is hard to relay the ideas in my head in words for AI to create the design. Lol, I think AI would go crazy with me or I’ll go crazy before it understands what I want.
