cutting force settings?

I cannot figure out the cutting force on my LOKLIK cutter. it ranges from 0 to 1000. qhwn it suggest 6.5? there is no option for that but anywhere even close to that barely cuts and typically not at all. then I take that times 100 and try 6500. that rips everything… I scaled down to 450 and even that didn’t work…

I’m using some AVERY permanent vinyl that I had lying around. I could probably look up cutting force for that - but I know it won’t go into the hundreds.

I also have the machine that I purchased thru group sourcing. It has to holders for the blades. does the machine just not recognize it?

I’m at a loss…it is quiet, I’ll say that for it, but aside for that - unless you use the HTVront vinyl - you have to guess at the settings for 'other.s

Your using the Loklik Crafter. The 1st version of the Loklik cutting machines.
Try using the preset settings for cutting vinyl the adjust the force if it’s too deep or too shallow.
Always do a cut test before proceeding with cutting the whole project so as to minimize material wastage :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hey there @mary_sergeant ! It sounds like you’re deep in the trial-and-error trenches—thanks for sharing all those details, because they really help paint the picture. Let’s break this down and get you closer to clean cuts without the vinyl carnage. :muscle:

:hammer_and_wrench: Understanding LOKLiK Cutting Force

LOKLiK machines use two different cutting force scales depending on the material:

  • LOKLiK/HTVRONT materials: Force ranges from 1.0 to 11.0
  • Other brands (like AVERY): Force ranges from 100 to 800

So when the software suggests “6.5,” it’s likely referencing the HTVRONT scale—not the numeric range you’re seeing. That’s why multiplying it by 100 (to get 6500) rips everything apart—it’s way beyond the intended range.

:dart: What to Try with AVERY Permanent Vinyl

AVERY vinyl is typically thinner and more delicate than HTV, so here’s a safer starting point:

  • Cutting Force: Try 250–350 (on the “other brands” scale)
  • Blade Type: Use the 45° red blade for fine cuts
  • Speed: Keep it low, around 2–4
  • Passes: Start with 1, but try 2 if it’s not cutting through

Always do a small test cut first—just a triangle or square—to avoid wasting material.

:mag: About the Dual Blade Holders

Yes, the machine has two holders:

  • Left: Pen or scoring tool
  • Right: Blade holder

Make sure the blade is properly seated in the right clamp and that the software knows which tool is in use. If the machine isn’t recognizing the blade, try:

  • Re-seating the blade housing
  • Checking for firmware/software updates
  • Restarting the machine and software

:bulb: Bonus Tip

If you’re using non-HTVRONT vinyl often, consider creating custom material profiles in the LOKLiK software. That way, you won’t have to guess every time.

You’re absolutely right—HTVRONT vinyl tends to work seamlessly because it’s optimized for the machine. But with a little calibration, you can get great results from other brands too. You’ve got this! Let me know if it works. Please keep us updated!

I think when using the Crafter, you cannot make your own settings like with the iCraft. I guess keeping a notebook with the settings that work for us can help too especially for the Crafter users

I’m wondering if she has crafter or icraft? Either way, that’s a great suggestion. I always have a cheat sheet on hand!:rofl:

I’m guessing it’s a craftwr since it was mentioned it had 2 holders. I hope our suggestions can help her :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Crafter’s life :joy:

I really hope Crafter’s users can see the Materials Management feature in IS. The Crafter is a wonderful machine that can serve for a long time if only received a little bit more of love…

I agree :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’d love to get my hands on that ledger too :rofl: though I might not understand it

That’s encrypted :joy:

First sheet is Cutting and Scoring, second is Pen Adapter drawing force (it’s for my adapters set, but may be helpful)

Here is the table template in case anyone wants to use it to take own notes:

thanks everyone for your help. I’m now having issues with just getting the software to work at all. it would update, but not open. I did just switch to DuckDuckgo as a browser. is that the problem?

Hey, thanks for the update—and I’m really sorry you’re hitting this wall with the software. That’s super frustrating, especially after making progress elsewhere. Switching to DuckDuckGo as your browser shouldn’t directly cause the software not to open, but it might be part of the puzzle depending on how the software interacts with default browser settings or security protocols.

Here are a few things to try:

  • Check if the software requires a specific browser (like Chrome or Edge) for login or updates. Some crafting programs use embedded browser windows that don’t play well with privacy-focused browsers.

  • Try launching the software as administrator (right-click the icon and select “Run as administrator”)—sometimes permissions get tangled after an update.

  • Clear your browser cache or switch back temporarily to your previous browser to test if that resolves the issue.

  • Reboot your computer after the update—simple, but it can reset lingering processes that block the software from opening.

  • If it still won’t launch, uninstall and reinstall the software, making sure to download the latest version from the official site.

Let us know what happens when you try those steps—we’re here to help you get back to creating! :muscle:
