I hope you can help me—I’m feeling a bit frustrated and have a bunch of ruined cardstock. When I create a design and apply a dashed line pattern, the machine makes a full cut instead of a scoring line for folding.
Do you know how I can get it to score instead of cut?
I’m new to using the plotter and I just can’t figure out what’s going wrong.
For folds, I use the scoring pen, but I would also like to be able to use the machine for this purpose.
PLEASE HELP!
Hi @MONICA_DOCENA! I don’t have the iCrafter — I have the Crafter, which doesn’t have a scoring function, so I use a little trick with a scoring tool placed in the pen holder. That’s not really the point here, just to explain that I can’t say exactly how the iCraft handles scoring.
But one thing I’m pretty sure about: the iCraft has only one tool holder, right? So if your machine is cutting instead of scoring, it probably means there’s a blade in the holder instead of a scoring tool. That would explain why it’s cutting — it’s just using the wrong tool. Someone with the iCraft can confirm, but I think it makes sense logically.
I first thought it could be a setting issue, like with my Crafter, but then I realized that on your machine it might be more straightforward — it can’t both cut and score unless you switch the tools manually.
Hope this helps!
Oh — just a quick note: you might want to post questions like this under the Machine, Software, or General sections. This one is for Tutorials, so maybe an @admin can move it for you
Hi @MONICA_DOCENA, which machine are you using. The LOKLiK crafter or the LOKLiK iCraft? The LOKLiK crafter doesn’t have the ability to score but as @redhada said there are work arounds to do it.
If you have the LOKLiK iCraft there is a scoring stylus that you can buy to put in to the machine where the blade goes when you are ready to score. You can use the scoring line in the pattern section of LOKLiK Idea Studio to create your scoring line within the program. Once your project is ready you can select make, then use the operation score at the top of the make screen instead of cut. Make sure you put the right tool in for what operation you are doing. If you don’t have the stylus, you can adjust your force settings, so the blade only slightly goes into the cardstock and doesn’t cut all the way through. I think I set my force to 3 or 4 to score with the 45 degree blade.
