DIY Project Sharing | SkyiCreations-BEYOUTIFUL Bag

Project Overview:

Being a mom of three beautiful girls, they all need a gentle reminder of how BeYOUTiful they are. They love to wear makeup so I created this makeup bag for them. What sweet message would you write on the bag? Or who would you create this bag for?

Materials:

  • Cutting machine: LOKLiK iCraft
  • Sticky mat: LOKLiK standard grip
  • HTV: 2 colors used in this tutorial
  • Makeup bag
  • Heat resistant tape
  • HTVRONT Auto Heat Press 2
  • Teflon sheet

Design and Cutting Process:

  • Using the LOKLiK IdeaStudio, use the shape feature to add a heart. Copy and paste a few hearts and arrange them in a cute layout.
  • Using the LOKLiK IdeaStudio, add the desired text using the Text feature. For this tutorial, I wanted to create a multi-layer design that was cute but simple. I decided on using the text “Be YOU Tiful”.

  • Change the font according to your preference. For this project, I wanted the “YOU” to stand out, so I selected a cursive font. For this project, I used the LOKLiK fonts: Aclonica and Poetry Script.

  • Arrange the text in the position you like and resize as needed.

  • As you see in the photo below, the “y”, “o” and “u” in YOU are not connected. To help with this, I have added an offset so that the word is cut as 1 piece.

  • To add the offset, select the word and add the offset. For this project, I am using an offset of .2mm.

  • You now have all the components made for makeup bag, here is a preview of all the components.

  • Send the components to cut, below are the settings used for this tutorial.

REMINDER: Click on the “Mirror” tab when selecting the cut settings.

Cut Settings
Material Type: Pure Heat Transfer Vinyl

  • Force: 6.4
  • Speed: 5
  • Passes: 2

Embellishing the Makeup Bag:

  • Weed the excess HTV and cut the plastic film to remove any extra spaces. This particular design allowed me to press this multi-layer design in 1 pass.
  • Place the “you” and the hearts in the center of the makeup bag.
  • Place the “be” and “tiful” on the makeup bag ensuring that the plastic film does not obstruct the HTV to have direct contact with the makeup bag.
  • Add heat-resistant tape to the ensure that the HTV does not move as you place it on the heat press.

  • Turn on your heat press and adjust the heat settings. For this particular project, I used the temperature of 310 degrees F, for 15 seconds, and a pressure of 170lbs.
  • Press the HTV onto the makeup bag with a Teflon sheet between the bag and heat press.
  • Once the heat press is done, slide the bag out and wait for the bag to cool, you will want to peel the plastic sheet once cooled.
  • Seal the HTV by sending it to press once more. For this particular project, I used the temperature of 310 degrees F, for 10 seconds, and a pressure of 170lbs.

WONDERFUL!!! You have created a Be YOU Tiful makeup bag. Who would you make this bag for?

beautiful job, only one suggestion tries to merge the letters so that it does not cut the interception between letters as seen between the Y and the O😊

Thank you. The software doesnt have a merge or weld option. I tried the combine options available but they didnt work as expected. I agree though, it would make the project nicer.

Great project, it turned out really cute. Thank you for sharing.

To merge the letters together select the word then select combine then subtract crossover. This will combine the letters together and make it cut as one word. Please note, you won’t be able to change the word after this as it is not a text box but an svg layer now. If you need another word you will need to create a new text box.

if it’s as @BelleLong tells you, you just have to select the word and it gives it to combine and then to escape crossing and so the word goes out even though it stops being edited

That’s a very fun project!

About the merging thing, there’s also an easy solution (depending on the shape), thata can also be used with already merged shapes when we want to get rid of holes. Just drayw something that covers with the pen tool and then merge:

Oh, and now you need to make for them another project to remember they are beutiful ok, but above everything, they are STONG! :muscle: :fist:

Thank you so much for the tip! I am glad you have a solution!!! I had tried it out when I was making the bag and it got all wonky and distorted the word. Maybe it was a glitch at the time, but thankfully it would work

You can use Subtract Crossover in the combine function to make the “you” cut as one without the cuts in betweed :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
