I have the latest update on my Crafter as far as I know. still learning how to use this, but had this happened a few times over the course of the last few day.
I was working on a label design for my misc substrates - and had not saved it yet. Then, for no explained reason - the design disappeared from the canvas. I looked in any folders I had created - not there. then looked in the trash bin. Not there either - so googled it and it suggested a network issue - or a software glitch. sign off and sign back on. Did that. The design is just gone.
Not sure what happened but would be curious about what did happen. It seemed to coincide with my using / selecting the Caps key. which would have included the shift key and the letter I wanted to capitalize.
It was not a large design. just a few āstickersā or labels to put on my misc storage containers so I would know at a glance - the contents without having to dig thru them,
My advice for now is? SAVE SAVE SAVE. I donāt know if this software has an autosave but it would be a good feature if it doesnāt currently have one. I will look again for a software update and confirm I have the most recent. if it seems to have been updating while doing this project - that might explain it? As of today August 24 - 2025 - I am happy with the machine although I believe the software needs some tweaking. I realize that takes time and suggestions by users. I donāt write code, but I typically can find my way around in just about any software. (years ago did beta testing for misc software companies) and worked in graphics for 35+ years.
Sometimes IS has a bug with undo function. It gets crazy, doesn“t undo but does another thing or moves everything, or just loses the design.
This is a bug I havenĀ“t remember to report, but thatās exactly what is happening to you IMO. Itās the only function IĀ”ve observed to behave like that. Please, @admin, can you report it to the dev team for us? Thank you!
In the mean time, yes, save, save, save, although it is annoying too as we cannot still resave (saving over an existing proyect), which is a feature we“ve been waiting for. So save, save, but in crucial moments only.
PS: No, thereās no autosave
Yes, a big update is supposedly coming, as weāve been making many suggestions and theyāve been reported.
thank you. I have also never really done stickers. that isnāt what I"m trying to do. I just wanted to make text labels. there is no flatten option. my first 2 attempts were unsuccessful. one printed out cut lines in the wrong area the other didnāt cut right but that was most likely my fault.
I thought if I grouped the label with text on it - and just printed the background part - it would work but it didnāt.
how would you do something similar to flatten? one YT video said to choose the āflattenā tab in the software - but at least in my version - there is no flatten.?
after reading your post I was also reminded that I cannot save an edited version. I have to rename it - save it again- and then go back and delete the other ones.
I donāt claim to be good at crafting stuff like stickers. I owned a screenprinting company and we did printing for manufacturing. not textiles. Itās only recently I started playing with this again.
My last venture into this was when my son was diagnosed with cancer and I did some printable HTV shirts with all of us pictured and fighting for him. He lost that battle 2 years ago and I havenāt done anything since. Now that I have this machine - I dragged it out⦠My airplane is flyable again and I wanted to make some shirts - but not overly familiar with this software. I typically used Silhouette Business, but the Cameo is so much louder than this machine so hoping to figure it all out. And Silhouette doesnāt cut to this machine, but I plan on sending an email to them about that. That would be nice if theyād do that.
@mary_sergeant, @InkiteeWorkshop, @redhada, @admin: Iāve got one list going right now and itās driving me nuts! I have several saved projects in IdeaStudio, and I want to edit what Iāve already saved ā but the āSaveā button wonāt let me overwrite the existing project. The issue is, I donāt want to end up with too many versions of the same project just because the save function isnāt working properly. Now Iāve got duplicates⦠or even triplicates!*
Also, I highly recommend adding an auto-save (like @redhada mentioned above, I second to that) feature for the project youāre currently working on. It would make a huge difference in keeping things organized and avoiding accidental loss or duplication.
