Glitch. Working on a label design and it just disappears

I have the latest update on my Crafter as far as I know. still learning how to use this, but had this happened a few times over the course of the last few day.

I was working on a label design for my misc substrates - and had not saved it yet. Then, for no explained reason - the design disappeared from the canvas. I looked in any folders I had created - not there. then looked in the trash bin. Not there either - so googled it and it suggested a network issue - or a software glitch. sign off and sign back on. Did that. The design is just gone.

Not sure what happened but would be curious about what did happen. It seemed to coincide with my using / selecting the Caps key. which would have included the shift key and the letter I wanted to capitalize.

It was not a large design. just a few ā€˜stickers’ or labels to put on my misc storage containers so I would know at a glance - the contents without having to dig thru them,

My advice for now is? SAVE SAVE SAVE. I don’t know if this software has an autosave but it would be a good feature if it doesn’t currently have one. I will look again for a software update and confirm I have the most recent. if it seems to have been updating while doing this project - that might explain it? As of today August 24 - 2025 - I am happy with the machine although I believe the software needs some tweaking. I realize that takes time and suggestions by users. I don’t write code, but I typically can find my way around in just about any software. (years ago did beta testing for misc software companies) and worked in graphics for 35+ years.

I’m using Windows 10 PRO.

Sometimes IS has a bug with undo function. It gets crazy, doesn“t undo but does another thing or moves everything, or just loses the design.

This is a bug I havenĀ“t remember to report, but that’s exactly what is happening to you IMO. It’s the only function IĀ”ve observed to behave like that. Please, @admin, can you report it to the dev team for us? Thank you!

In the mean time, yes, save, save, save, although it is annoying too as we cannot still resave (saving over an existing proyect), which is a feature we“ve been waiting for. So save, save, but in crucial moments only.

PS: No, there’s no autosave

Yes, a big update is supposedly coming, as we’ve been making many suggestions and they’ve been reported.

thank you. I have also never really done stickers. that isn’t what I"m trying to do. I just wanted to make text labels. there is no flatten option. my first 2 attempts were unsuccessful. one printed out cut lines in the wrong area the other didn’t cut right but that was most likely my fault.

I thought if I grouped the label with text on it - and just printed the background part - it would work but it didn’t.

how would you do something similar to flatten? one YT video said to choose the ā€˜flatten’ tab in the software - but at least in my version - there is no flatten.?

after reading your post I was also reminded that I cannot save an edited version. I have to rename it - save it again- and then go back and delete the other ones.

I don’t claim to be good at crafting stuff like stickers. I owned a screenprinting company and we did printing for manufacturing. not textiles. It’s only recently I started playing with this again.

My last venture into this was when my son was diagnosed with cancer and I did some printable HTV shirts with all of us pictured and fighting for him. He lost that battle 2 years ago and I haven’t done anything since. Now that I have this machine - I dragged it out… My airplane is flyable again and I wanted to make some shirts - but not overly familiar with this software. I typically used Silhouette Business, but the Cameo is so much louder than this machine so hoping to figure it all out. And Silhouette doesn’t cut to this machine, but I plan on sending an email to them about that. That would be nice if they’d do that.

I agree @redhada the undo button does not simply undo, it goes cray cray!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@mary_sergeant, @InkiteeWorkshop, @redhada, @admin: I’ve got one list going right now and it’s driving me nuts! I have several saved projects in IdeaStudio, and I want to edit what I’ve already saved — but the ā€œSaveā€ button won’t let me overwrite the existing project. The issue is, I don’t want to end up with too many versions of the same project just because the save function isn’t working properly. Now I’ve got duplicates… or even triplicates!*

Also, I highly recommend adding an auto-save (like @redhada mentioned above, I second to that) feature for the project you’re currently working on. It would make a huge difference in keeping things organized and avoiding accidental loss or duplication.

I would agree with the auto save, plus a save as and a save to update an excisting project, it is vital for creators!
