Tried again puff htv. I used my loklik mini press 3 on this hanky
Wow!
Great results! You got a good puff with that mini press! ![]()
I do like the output. I used a base which had a smooth hard surface, then much pressure while pressing, temp was 180 10 seconds 2 presses ![]()
Thanks for the info! I will certainly give that a try on my next puff press. I didn’t even know pressing puff twice was doable, but I’ve seen others say to give it a 2nd press, too. ![]()
The siser brand usually needs 2 presses. On this project, I noticed the htvront puff didn’t puff as much so I pressed it another time with more pressure
Yeah, the HTVRONT definitely didn’t puff as much as I expected it to. It’s the only brand I’ve tried as far as puff goes. Think I’ll do some experimenting with it soon. The way the carrier sheet just pretty much removed itself after the first press, I thought 1 press was all that I could do. ![]()
I’m just happy it wasn’t brainy ![]()
Yeah, mine was a little brainy, but not like some I’ve seen. Like this one:
The HTVRONT website says different colors have different textures, so I just thought the color I was using was brain texture.
I’ve only ever used the one color — pastel purple — so I don’t know what the other colors do, yet.
I think the surface or mat also plays a big part. Don’t use the mat that came with the heat press. It’s too soft, try the silicone rubber mats instead that are firmer. For this project, since I only used the mini press and did this out of a whim, I pressed it on the self healing mat on my table. I think the result was okay for this. The only problem was since I pressed it on a surface that’s not heat resistant, the lines of on my self healing mat smudged a little ![]()
I forgot to protect my self healing mat ![]()
You did achieve a unique texture though
it’s cute in a way I guess
Yeah, I learned my lesson with the self healing mat, too. I pressed on it once, and it bowed. It still lifts a little on one side. ![]()
I don’t have the HTVRONT Auto Heat Press, but I have the H10, and they sent me one of their pressing pillows for when I did my Hands-on Review for it, and I did use it my first time. The other time, I used the pressing mat that came with my 5 in 1 swing arm press. It’s firmer than the pressing pillow, and if I’m remembering correctly, I did get a little bit better of a puff. I’ll have to look into the silicone mats, for sure. The image I sent isn’t mine, I was just using it as an example of those that I’ve seen.
I thought it was a pretty cool texture, too, but apparently, if it puffs like that, it will crackle & fall off pretty quickly. I think they said it was due to too much heat. So, there’s a fine line between too much, too less, and just enough heat to get the perfect puff. At least, that’s what I’ve gotten from my research on it.
Heat, time, pressure and a firm mat. All of those need to be considered with this finicky puff htv
plus the different brands have different seetings
For sure! I appreciate all the tips.
Hopefully soon, I’ll get to do some puff experiments. I have a ton of different blanks I’d like to try it on.
That’s my problem, I don’t have many blanks that’s why this old hanky was my sacrificial lamb ![]()
I think the fabric also plays a part, if the material is to stiff and not stretchy, it might not puff as much as well.
At the end of December, I redeemed my points for a $100 gift card and combined it with the 2 $40 gift cards & $100 gift cards I had won for the Christmas events and the rune resonance event, so I bought the iCraft, a ton of vinyl, and some canvas tote bags. I also bought a bunch of zippered pouches from Amazon, so I have lots of canvas stuff to press it onto.
I find that it does pretty well on canvas material, not like on that hanky, though. The first time I used puff was on a cotton T-shirt, the other time was a canvas zippered pouch. They both performed about the same. I actually really like the way it looks on the canvas. I also pressed it onto a flat painted canvas panel. While it gave a good textured look, it didn’t puff very well.
I think it puffed initially, but after cooling off it flattened out. I was really hoping it would stay puffed, because it looked really good. I want to try it again on an unpainted canvas and see how well that goes.
How I wish we could also redeem those gift cards. I need more blanks to practice on ![]()
Yeah, that’s kind of messed up. I wish everyone could use the gift cards, too. Hopefully, they’ll find a way to allow for that, soon. They definitely come in handy for buying blanks and other materials.
I also wish the other machines would be available in all regions. We don’t have the iPrint and iEngrave here too.
Yeah, it’s weird that certain products aren’t available in certain areas. I can’t get the multi colored pack of Loklik pens for my cutting machines. I just don’t understand why all products can’t be available in all regions. ![]()
The pens have a generic version but I got the 12 pack from the fans carnival apck before
