:tada: Hey HTVRONT & LOKLiK Fam!

We’re back with Insight Hub Vol.10, and this time we want to hear your input on a key design detail of DTF printer — the location of the control screen!

:face_with_monocle: What’s your pick?

  • :arrow_up_small: Top-facing screen?

  • :arrow_down_small: Front-facing screen?

  • Or maybe… no preference?

Take a look at the two mock-ups and tell us which layout fits your workflow better — and why.

Since I am more used to Top screen positions, that is what I would choose…

But if it would be possible to have both then why not? :woman_shrugging::sweat_smile:

I don’t own a DTF machine YET.
This would be my opinion though.
Front-facing all the way!
I don’t need a shoulder workout or a step stool just to check if my print’s done
When the printer’s on a shelf (which is where a lot of us keep them), a top screen might as well be on the ceiling.
Give me a nice, easy-to-see front screen so I can peek at it mid-project without doing gymnastics. :joy::muscle::sparkles:
Front-facing keeps things easy, breezy, and craft-room friendly! :muscle::sparkles:

I am yet to get a DTF machine, usually outsource. But if I were to get one i’d appreciate a front facing display… easier to work with

I mainly craft standing up so I vote for a top facing screen, in saying that one of my canon printers (it’s not dtf) has a screen where I can position it from front to top facing which is the best of both worlds as I can see it from a sitting position or a standing position. I also feel a quick button to do test prints and also print head cleans would be a great idea to include as well. Could be physical buttons or on the touch screen. The screen needs to be able to be big enough to see as well. The models shown above look like they have really small screens where the writing would display very small. After working all day on the computer, I don’t want to have to squint to look at my printer screen. If you are doing the touch screen approach, please still have physical buttons as well. Sometimes touch screens can fail quite quickly, so still having an enter and select physical buttons will still allow you to use the machine even if the touch screen part fails.

Also when you are working on a printer you have the lid up looking down into most of the time. So having the screen at the top with buttons allows you to look at the trouble shoot screen while you are following the steps. This is provided the screen is not attached to the lid of the printer. Don’t attach it to the lid of the printer, I had a HP printer that the screen was attached to the lid and would turn off every time you opened the lid so you had no idea what the printer screen said. Worst design ever.

Done! As the best choice depends on were you lay the printer, top facing does better the job for both high and low places. Top facing you can still access if you work sitting, but front facing is hard to see if you work standing and your printer is laying low.

I have my tank inkjet in a low stand, its screen is in the top position and I have to bend to see the ink levels in the front. I don´t want to have to bend to see a display. While if I had it in a high stand, I would still can see the top display, although it is not the more comfortable option.

I have regular printers and they all have front facing screens so I am used to that setup so k would say a front facing. I feel it works as I am not usually standing over a printer. I think both ways could have their benefits but I like the idea of the consistency of different type of printers having a similar layout .

Front facing is easier if you seat in front of the printer.

I think it would depend on the setup of the area and the DTF Printer. If it is just the printer unit, either option works well. But if the printer still needs to be connected to the shaker and/or oven, then a front display would be good as the printer would be in a higher position and I am short, lol!

I’d definitely go with the top-facing screen! It gives better visibility when standing over the printer, makes it easier to operate in tight workspaces, and helps avoid accidental touches when moving around. It’s just more ergonomic and user-friendly for day-to-day use!

I do not own a DTF printer however I would pick the Front Facing Screen option!
