Let’s talk reverse weeding
So reverse weeding can be a little hard to get your head around after you have been weeding the “right way” for so long. But it really is such a life saver when it comes to those very intricate designs or tiny letters and numbers.
What is reverse weeding
- So, the process of reverse weeding is to lay the transfer tape over the design before any weeding is done. Then weed out your design while it is on the transfer tape. This makes it much easier to keep all those itty-bitty letters and pieces on the sticky transfer tape instead of losing them while weeding.
The process
-
Cut out your design.
-
Cut out a piece of transfer tape larger than your design
-
Apply the transfer tape on to the vinyl - go from the center out to apply
-
Burnish it down
-
Peel the backing off the vinyl
-
I like to reverse weed on my cutting mat as I find it stays in place easier.
-
Start weeding out your design, cut any excess vinyl off as you go to make it easier.
-
Now you have your weeded design without the headache.
