Looking for information

New to the iengrave. I have tried researching for information but all I seem to find are videos showing the setup out of the box and a quick project that doesn’t really show how to use the machine. I would love some direction on using other than just engraving wood, leather, and metal, which I have done. The product info states you can use over 300 plus types of medium and there are maybe 20 listed on the software. Where do you find the rest of the materials listed?

Hello, @Tammy_Leckbee. I suppose since the iEngrave is fairly new, it can be difficult to find content on it. I agree, the company should provide more information on how to use the machine. We do have some helpful posts in the LOKLiK iEngrave Help Hub.

Here is some more information about the machine and the materials it can engrave:

The LOKLiK iEngrave is a 10W diode laser, capable of cutting and engraving over 300 materials, primarily targeting organic and soft materials like various woods (basswood, plywood, pine), acrylics, leather, Kraft paper, and fabric. It also supports marking on stone, slate, ceramics, and some coated metals.

Key Materials Supported:

  • Wood: Plywood, basswood, pine, bamboo, MDF, hardwoods.
  • Acrylic: Cast acrylic (ideal), with limitations on clear materials.
  • Leather & Fabrics: Leather, denim, canvas.
  • Paper & Cardboard: Craft paper, card stock, corrugated cardboard.
  • Metals (Marking Only): Stainless steel, aluminum alloy, coated metals.
  • Others: Stone, slate coasters, ceramics, cork.

Capabilities:

  • Cutting: Up to 8mm basswood, 3mm acrylic, and 10mm pine.
  • Limitations: It is not suitable for, or cannot cut, clear acrylic, reflective materials (mirrored), or metals like gold, silver, brass, or copper.
  • Operation: Compatible with LightBurn, LaserGBRL, and the LOKLiK IdeaStudio app.

If you have any specific questions about the machine, please, feel free to ask. We have several community members who are happy to answer your questions. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful weekend, and happy engraving!

Thank you. I hope more instructional videos are available soon as I am a visual learner.

You’re most welcome. Yeah, many of us are visual learners. I hope more iEngrave creators will start posting content on how to use the machine, as it seems there is definitely a need for it. I don’t have the machine, myself, or I’d definitely post how-to videos for it. Our lovely @rinsky has some great videos on her channel, though. You may want to check them out.

@Tammy_Leckbee, you can find some common materials in this link LOKLiK iEngrave™ - Cover.

Hopefully they’ll update the iEngrave section with a full, accurate materials list soon so everyone has a clear reference point. When I did my unboxing, cutting on cardstocks weren’t included in the material lists with the setting so I played with my iEngrave to get the right dial. Also, I know they’ve engraved a photo onto a leaf before, which is such a fun example of what the machine can do, but that wasn’t listed either.

Have you had a chance to try cutting different materials with your iEngrave yet, like wood or acrylic? They’re incredibly fun to work with and open up so many creative possibilities. I’ve put together a few tutorials —some are here in the community and others are on my YouTube channel—if you ever want a step‑by‑step to follow along.

And thank you, @Samantha_Bryant, for mentioning it earlier. I really appreciate the support from this community.

In the meantime, if anyone here has tested additional materials or has examples to share, feel free to drop them in—collective knowledge is one of the best parts of this community, and it really helps everyone feel more confident experimenting.

Thanks and yes I have played a bit. i have done wood and some slate coasters but the coolest thing I’ve done is the lid to my grandson’s mini toolbox that he turned into a Bluetooth stereo. Learned a lot on alignment on the metal toolbox lid…lol…it cost me a toolbox, had to replace my oops.
