Project | Long Live The Empire | Toiletry Pouch Bag

This is a Star Wars inspired pouch bag (22x10x10 cm) with hidden seams and a side handle, designed as a toiletry bag or clutch for a left handed Dark Side fan. The outside is made with black canvas and the inside with a beautiful red cotton fabric printed with grunge style Galactic Empire artwork. Darth Vader, Imperial symbols and TIE fighters create the perfect dramatic lining. Reinforced with fusible interfacing attached with my LOKLiK Impress Auto 2, for a much firmer structure.

Simple but elegant and striking outside decoration. On the left side of the front panel I applied the Galactic Empire symbol in red LOKLiK HTV. The side handle was decorated with the phrase “Long Live The Empire” written in Aurebesh (same vinyl).

The zipper pull became a small craft on its own. Handmade with black waxed cotton cord macram, two small red Fimo beads and a charm. For the charm, I cut the pendant base shape with my Crafter in red cardstock, added a matte black adhesive vinyl Empire symbol and encapsulated everything in UV resin for a glossy durable finish.

Working with HTV in sewing projects like this is always interesting because many applications become almost impossible once the final seams are closed. The handle could still be pressed comfortably with the Impress Auto 2 after sewing it and before attaching it to the bag. However, to press the large front symbol with a large press, requires to be applied carefully before finishing the whole assembly, but once it is fully constructed it may result incorrectly positioned. So I had to use a household iron.

I´ve just ordered the new HTVRONT H1 mini and I was really hoping to use it for this project, but unfortunately it hasn’t arrived yet. I cannot wait to finally have it in my sewing area. Not only to avoid handling a heavy household iron for small delicate HTV applications, but also because a compact heat tool is incredibly useful during sewing itself, helping with pressing assistance and precise assembly.

Wow, that looks fab! All the parts look perfect and the zipper really stands out. :star_struck:

Reading about Aurebesh reminded me of when I was about 11 years old trying to decipher the runic texts in the Lord of the Rings novels! :exploding_head:
