Hello LOKLiK Fans

Ever find yourself guessing heat press settings when working with different vinyls?
Whether it’s patterned film, puff vinyl, or something extra shiny, getting the temp and time right can feel a bit… experimental.

Here’s a quick guide to some of the most common HTV types. It’s not a one-size-fits-all chart, but it’s a pretty solid place to start.

These settings are based on our brand’s machine and materials, so if you’re using something different, a quick test press is always a good idea.

Patterned HTV / PU HTV / Chameleon HTV / Glow-in-the-Dark HTV / Soft Metallic HTV

  • Temp: 145–150°C / 290–300℉
  • Time: 15–20 sec
  • Pressure: 60–80kg / 130–170lb
  • Peel: Cold peel

Applies to cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, modal, and canvas.

:sparkles: Textures & Effects

Glitter HTV / Color-Changing HTV / Flock HTV / Holographic HTV / Reflective HTV
Recommended Settings:

  • Temp: 150–160°C / 300–320℉

Puff HTV
Recommended Settings:

  • Temp: 150°C / 300-320℉
  • Time: 10–15 sec
  • Pressure: 60–70kg / 130–150lb
  • Peel: Hot peel

Applies to cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, and modal. For canvas, raise the temp to 150–155°C and increase pressure to 70–80kg for better results.

These settings are great as a baseline when working with new materials. You may need to tweak things slightly depending on fabric thickness, machine model, or layering needs.

Thanks so much for sharing this information.
I´m new to HTV and DTF and it`s often a bit confusing for me as a newbie what temperatures and times will generally work. Because most supliers only give temperature guides for certain companies of heat presses.

Same here, it’s because most reels show the process sper up then they peel off the carrier sheet immediately

Thank you so much, this information is very helpful. I am curios about the puff HTV. I tried to press it 2 days ago and it looked amazing but some of the edges of the htv raised and didnt adhere to the shirt, why would that be?

Most of the time when puff rises off the fabric the temp was too hot when it was pressed. Do you have a picture of it?

I dont have a photo, it was a shirt my sister brought with the puff htv weeded already so we used the recommended settings, 310 degrees, 15 seconds. First we put the pressure at the absolute lowest, 50lb, then raised it to 70. That helped a little but it still didnt fully attach.

Also another tip, if you are not sure if you have adhesive vinyl or htv, you can peel back a bit of the corner. If your vinyl is sticky it’s adhesive vinyl if it not sticky then it is htv
