I wanted to test how well my Crafter could cut craft foam, so I picked a simple heart shape from the library — I was looking for something to turn into a cute stamping block. I created a quick design and used the strong grip mat, cutting force 11, speed 1, and just one pass. It worked beautifully!
I mounted the cut-out hearts onto small pieces of cardboard to make simple DIY stamps, and used red ink to stamp them onto pretty cream-colored cards. The results were wonderful — they look even better in person!
The stamp design could definitely be improved in terms of the backing: I’d like to use small wooden blocks to mount the foam pieces and easily switch between different shapes I cut. Adding a second foam layer might also help produce a more solid print and avoid messy ink marks in the negative spaces. I still want to try more detailed shapes to test their limits. I also used a bit of cheap book covering film as carrier.
The cut line had some tiny “teeth” along the edge, but they came off easily with tweezers and don’t show at all in the stamped image.
Once the ink dried a few minutes later, I added some fun doodles over the stamped hearts using gel pens, and ended up with a handful of striking, playful handmade cards. A quick, easy project with lots of charm!
This is such a simple craft — great for all ages, fast to make, and requiring no drawing skills. Just enjoy stamping, doodling, and writing a sweet message. Don’t be afraid to keep doodling — there’s always a moment when it starts to look beautiful. The results are elegant, and it’s surprisingly addictive. I’m definitely hooked on making my own stamps from now on!
