šŸŽ¶ Friday Fun: Let’s Talk Music!

Hello crafty friends! :yellow_heart:

Today let’s talk about music! :notes:

Music has a way of reaching us all. It brings back memories, sparks creativity, and even inspires us to craft! :sparkles:

What makes music so powerful is its ability to move thousands of people at once, in the very same moment, few things in life can do that.

And yet, even though we come from different places and cultures, music resonates with each of us in beautifully unique ways, shaping our own memories and experiences.

So this week’s Friday Fun, let’s dive into your musical side:

  • Who’s your favorite singer or band?
  • What music do you like to listen to while crafting?
  • What was the very first concert you ever went to, and what do you remember most about it?
  • Have you ever made a DIY T-shirt, tote, or any craft inspired by a concert or your favorite music?

:speech_balloon: Share your stories, photos, or creations in the comments. Let’s fill the community with music and creativity!

My favorite musician is my husband. He is a talented musician. He plays keyboard, organ and all keys. He plays the drums as well as the saxophone. He has played with other bands and recording artist. He is also the at our church.

Since most people may not know him,, I’ll list a lot popular artist. This is really a though one. I will say Stevie Wonder. He is another exceptionally talented musician.

When I’m working or crafting, I really don’t listen to anything. I have gotten to the point where I appreciate the quiet. :woman_shrugging:t4:

I don’t think I’ve made anything personally for myself that was inspired an artist. I have made some for others.

While I appreciate the quiet, I am a lover of music. Oh, I forgot to mention I took piano as a young girl. I also played flute in junior high and high school. Maybe I am really my favorite musician.

Some artists just become part of your rhythm—and for me, that’s Bruno Mars. His voice, his energy, his swagger… it’s the soundtrack to so many moments in my life. While I’m crafting, though, it’s usually country music that fills the room—something about the twang and storytelling keeps my hands moving and my heart humming.

But nothing compares to the night I saw Bruno live for the very first time. It was June 2, 2011, in Seattle—his debut concert in the city, part of the ā€œDoo-Wops & Hooligansā€ tour. What made it even more unforgettable? It was my first concert ever… and my first concert date with my husband. He surprised me with tickets, and I remember standing there in the crowd, completely starstruck, watching my idol light up the stage. The music, the lights, the joy—it was electric. That night became a core memory, stitched into the fabric of our story.

Fast forward to a more recent concert moment—this time, behind the scenes. A friend reached out in a panic: her daughter was going to a Taylor Swift 2023 concert, and the 1989 shirt she ordered online wouldn’t arrive in time. Could I help? Challenge accepted. I dove into a last-minute craft sprint, pouring love and glitter into every detail. That shirt wasn’t just a rush job—it was a rescue mission, a celebration, and a Swiftie dream come true. Seeing her daughter beam in that handmade tee? That’s the kind of encore I live for.

Oh this is a fun topic for me. I have a friend that is a singer. His name is Damian McGinty (who is also a member of the Irish group Celtic Thunder and also played Rory Flanagan on Season 3 of Glee). Whenever he has solo tour, I make shirts or hats for our group Here are a few I have made. Also, my son loves the band KISS and I made a jacket for him

My first big concert was back in 1982 - yes, I’m that old. The Who announced their farewell tour and Milwaukee was not on the schedule so a local DJ spent 2 weeks out on a ledge to get their attention. It worked! A date was scheduled for that December and it became a lottery to get tickets. I ended up getting 2 and went with a friend. I was 16 at the time, first major concert and we ended up sneaking backstage. I got autographs and talked to the band members, ate and drank some and then had no ride home. Believe it or not, we hitch hiked home at about 6:00 a.m., just in time to get ready for school. One of the greatest and most memorable nights of my life!

Omg I love this answer. My husband is also a musician and very passionate about what he does. He plays electric guitar for the church worship team and has some tunes on Spotify. Nothing with lyrics yet but my kiddos and I are his number one fan :face_holding_back_tears: I’d say music really connects us as a family. My son loves to be all day on his drum set. Made a bucket hat with my husband’s logo on it.

I grew up listening to Guns N’ Roses, Queen, Pearl Jam, Nirvana etc.
Then moved over to Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, Green Day, Alanis Moriset etc. with a bit of Brintne, Xtina, N’Sync, BSB :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
I listened to different types of music even anime soundtracks
Now it Huntrix and Saja Boys
But since my husband started working with a local pop group, I’ve been influenced to their songs and awesome dance choreography. This is SB19. I recently went to their Kickoff concert for the 3rd installment of their trillogy album, Simula at Wakas (translates to Beginning and End). This was last June 1 of this year but up to now I’m still having PCD (Post Concert Depression)
I made this shirt for that concert

Such a fun topic!! Depending on what I am doing, the playlist would change. During the morning school drop offs, I listed to the Christian radio station as a way to send the kids off to school with a positive attitude. While crafting, I mostly listen to the Zin App (the music platform for Zumba instructors) and learn choreography while crafting. This past week I celebrated the 6 month anniversary of starting my own Zumba classes. In order to make it memorable, I made these shirts, You’re the Chips to My Salsa. A play on the words as Salsa is a type of music and salsa is a type of sauce eaten with chips. I used the HTVRONT Auto Heat Press 2 to press the DTF to the shirt.

I am always playing music! I prefer it over tv. I mostly listen to Christian and country. My first concert was when I was in middle school in the early 90s with my mom and sister to see Celine dion and Michael Bolton. :joy: It was the only concert I went too with both of them and since I lost them both in 2020 it’s a special memory! I haven’t been to one since I started crafting but the last one I went too was Keith Urban in 2018.

I love to listen love song while crafting. Feels like I can think better while listening to that kind of music. I don’t remember if I already went to a concert before but at present, I would love to go to TJ Monterde’s concert. I don’t have any DIY items inspired by a concert but maybe soon if I have a chance to watch TJ’s concert. :heartpulse:

Music is my passion! Showing my age, my first love was Neil Diamond and I have seen him live over 50 times. I’m now involved in a tribute show in the UK called ā€˜It’s A Beautiful Noise’.
When I’m not working with the show, I’m usually at another show or concert. Just this week in fact I have a show tonight, Tuesday I’m seeing Wet Wet Wet, Wednesday our show and Saturday I’m at another tribute show for Billy Joel. It’s all about the music!

Ahh… though I’m a true music lover, I actually haven’t had the chance to attend a concert where I bought my own ticket or got one from a friend haha! But ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been a huge fan of Regine Velasquez.

I still remember those weekends when we’d have the radio on all day, eagerly waiting for the Top 20 countdown, just hoping to hear one of her songs play!

These days, while crafting or doing mom duties, I love listening to gospel music. It lifts my spirit, calms my heart, and fills our home with positivity and peace. :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart:

My favourite band, and has been for almost 40 years, is a Canadian prog rock band called Rush.
However, my music taste is extremely diverse, in almost all genres (except Jazz; I HATE Jazz!) My CD collection ranges from Iron Maiden to Mozart, from Hipsway to Harry Connick Jr, and from Diana Ross to Radiohead (and LOTS of Rush CDs.)
I have the radio playing almost all day, every day, as I’d rather listen to music than watch TV.

Much to my embarrassment, my first ever concert was The Nolans (but I was only 11 or 12!) Our local priest was a cousin of the singers, so he’d arranged for a group of us to go to the concert. Since then I’ve seen Rush several times, as well as Ocean Colour Scene, Robbie Williams, and others.

(I’ve had to continue as another reply as my phone wouldn’t let me fit any more in one reply!)
Anyway, when I started out with the LOKLiK Crafter and playing about with different materials, I bought some HTVRont printable heat transfer vinyl, so I thought I’d make a Rush t-shirt to try it out. I wanted to create my own design based on the Roll the Bones album. As I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, I printed 2 versions of the front with a slightly different vignette at the bottom, so I also made a vest top for my wife.
The back features an excerpt of the lyrics from the song You Bet Your Life.

Continued (again)

BTW, these were just to test, using scrappy old t-shirts that were ready for the bin! I plan on ordering a larger DTF print to do it properly on a new tee.
