Theme: What’s Love

Story: My hubby and I started dating when he was a Navy man of 19 years old stationed in Virginia Beach, VA while I was 17 and living at home 6 hours away. He came home every other weekend. It was hard only seeing him for 48 hours every 14 days. I got to spend a week with him at the beach … that’s what my painting is about. We got engaged on Christmas Eve a year later and married the year after that. At 19 and 21 we had a whole lot of learning about marriage to do. Our 20’s brought 2 sons and our family was complete. Kids grow up and move away. We survived an empty nest. We survived health issues and the normal ups and downs of life. Our sons got married and brought os 5 grandchildren. Through it all our devotion hasn’t wavered. We love each other more today after 44 years of marriage than we ever did. This is my definition of what love is.

Here’s my crafting-love Week 1 entry!
Theme: What’s Love
IdeaStudio link: See What I've Been Creating...

I designed this shirt to express what love means to me. The bold red “LOVE” grabs attention, but it’s the puzzle-piece heart that tells the real story—because I believe love is the art of fitting together. It’s not just about chemistry or romance; it’s about learning each other’s shapes, embracing the quirks, and finding joy in the way two people can click. The phrase “is the art of fitting together” came from that idea: that love is something we build, piece by piece, with care and intention. I added the scattered hearts to keep it playful, because even though love takes work, it should always feel a little magical too.
