Nice design. When using an iron make sure mist or steam setting is off. Also, instead of moving the iron back and forth, try placing it down and apply pressure and don’t move it, just hold it on one spot. Then after enough time pick it up and then place it to cover the next bit of the design and hold and press don’t move and so on till the whole design is finished. This method should stop the ghosting you got in your print. But well done, it’s hard using an iron to do sublimation. Also make sure you put butchers’ paper between your sublimation print and your iron so the ink doesn’t transfer to your iron and then transfer onto other fabrics.

Sublimation works best on white and sometimes light-colored surfaces, but it won’t show up well on dark colors. For those, you should use Direct to Film (DTF) or dark transfer paper (DTP).I’m not sure if “dark” is the right word, HAHAHA but you should definitely give it a try!

Hi @quinie_espayos! I love that you’re experimenting with sublimation—it’s such a fun process to explore. There are lots of tips out there to help you succeed, and I’ll share some of mine here.

:sparkles: Sublimation works best when you use light-colored fabrics with at least 70% polyester content. Dark-colored fabrics aren’t ideal for direct sublimation because sublimation ink is transparent (unlike pigment ink). In those cases, you’ll need a substrate—like sublimation HTV. First, press the HTV onto your dark fabric, then press your design on top of it.

:thread: This method also works for light-colored fabrics that are 100% cotton. You can use sublimation spray coating to prep the cotton and allow for direct sublimation.

I’ll link some of my tutorials below for reference—hope they help!

Sorry, I’ve been on holidays. But what others have said is true. Sublimation ink is translucent so it won’t show up on dark colours. For best results use white. You can use lighter colours but the colour from the Tshirt will show through your design. You can use Sublimation HTV and then press the sublimation print on top for dark or black shirts like @rinsky said.
