🌿 Talky Tuesday | Your Most Random Source of Crafting Inspiration

Hi Community!

Some of the best crafting ideas don’t come from planning—they just… show up.
Like spotting a cool pattern on a coffee sleeve.
Or realizing your cat’s food bag has a color combo you weirdly love.
Even a crumpled receipt can suddenly look like the base of a flower in the right mood.

One time, a friend of ours saw a tangled paperclip on their desk and thought, “This kinda looks like a bird.” A few bends later—it was a bird. Not everything starts as a masterpiece, but it’s fun when it surprises you.

:thread: So what’s the most unexpected thing that’s ever sparked one of your craft ideas?

Doesn’t have to be big or finished—just something that made you see things differently.

:speech_balloon: Drop yours in the comments!
We’ll randomly pick 3 fun replies next Tuesday to receive 100 points.

Until then, stay creative :sparkles:

Oh thank you so much. Big congratulations to @timmytation and @lyka_artspace as well.

I have to say this is a hard one. I find inspiration anywhere really. I get some colour combos from sunsets and sunrises. I was making a coffee with my coffee grinder and found inspiration to make a cup wrap using coffee beans as embellishments. I get a lot of my art inspiration from anime’s that I watch.

I made this card recently with my great aunt in mind that passed away peacefully. She loved tulips and her garden. She loved the color blue and had arches in her garden everywhere. So, I made this card to honor her memory.

Inspiration can come from anywhere and when it does, I’m always quick to take a picture or write what I was thinking down. I use an organizational app called Notion. It houses all my ideas and inspirations for future crafts and tutorial videos.

My inspiration is my cats. Before starting work, I wake up cuddling with them. A portion of my income goes towards their cat food. They were originally stray cats; I started with one, and now I have seven. I’ve lost some over the years, but I love them all. After a hectic workday, I come home and sleep, cuddle, and play with them, capturing pictures of their funny poses. After work, when I go to the night market, I always crave tanghulu.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

One of the unexpected thing that sparked one of my craft ideas is when I am rushing to do my Gender Reveal loot bag. Most gender reveal uses Team Boy and Team Girl, but for me I used Team Itlog (Itlog means Egg in English) and Team Mani (Mani means Nut). Below is the sample loot bag I made.

I think my inspirations come to me when I least expect it to. I can just be relaxing and bam something pops into my head, and I make a mad dash to the laptop to create something. LOL

I know it’s weird but my inspiration comes from my ADHD, when I get into hyper focus, like these days I was obsessed by strawberries  so I sat on the computer and designed a lot of things with strawberries… before it I was hyper focused in babies, so… a lot of things baby themed came out. But because of Impostor’s Syndrome I always think that my work isn’t good enough and My designs end up staying on the computer because I’m afraid to make them and they won’t be good.

My concern is the "WHEN’ not the What
Random craft inspirations come to me when I’ve closed my eyes and am about to sleep. Aha :bulb: thoughts keep popping in so I end up tossing and turning and telling my talkative brain :exploding_head: to stop because I really need to sleep. I can’t really put them into action because everyone’s already asleep. And by the time I wake up, poof :anger: they’re gone huhu

Congratulations Ladies .

One of my random sources of crafting inspiration was this one, a branch of fresh pinecones that fell off from our big pine tree in our backyard. This was during the Christmas Season last year (2024). While visiting my plants in our backyard, I saw this long branch and thought about doing something with it. I cut it into 2 pieces (front & back) and ended up attaching it to our Christmas decorative centerpiece in our table. Turned out so pretty and love the smell of fresh pinecones.

I usually get inspired when I am off window shopping… I look at the trends and also new materials available…

or sometimes, I think of a new craft while I am actually doing another project hahahah and then start that one too. I don’t like wasting craft materials so even scraps and some leftovers I get inspired to do something new
