My tiny Christmas Tree - Bonsai Xmas 🎄

I usually spend Christmas at my family home, so I do not normally decorate my own place and I do not keep Christmas decorations. This year I wanted my home to feel cozy, even if it was only for those moments when I come back to do something or water the plants. I do not have much space, so I did not want bulky items that I would later have to find room to store. That is why I decided to decorate one of my bonsai trees, so I would not have to worry about a tree and the decoration would take up very little space when stored.

Around this time of year, my small elm, a deciduous tree, has usually already dropped its leaves, which would make the perfect skeleton to hang the ornaments I had in mind. Everything had to be small and lightweight, to decorate such a tiny tree without weighing it down. And that is how I went on creating the different decorations that I have shown you in the previous projects. I also planned to use some fairy lights, scaled to fit the tree.

However, this year the tree has been pampered indoors, and it has not yet dropped all its leaves. In the end, neither one thing nor the other, a scruffy tree, half bare and a bit patchy haha. But that is fine, it is the gentleman to be groomed, so I only pruned a few stray branches and little more. Even though this year it really needs a proper pruning, it is still too early, and besides, every little branch could give me the perfect spot to hang each ornament.

All that was left was to spend that afternoon decorating the tree with my new sets of ornaments. First the lights, quite tricky even if it does not seem so.

Then the ornament balls, which as I explained in their post, I wanted to place like a family tree, so the position of each ball was important.

They are also the most voluminous decoration, so the stars would fill the empty spaces left by the balls, creating rhythm.

I love every pic I take from it!

So I am in love with my Christmas tree this year and I am sure I will repeat this idea again. Both turned off and lit during the day it looks wonderful, and at night it feels magical. Above all, together with the rest of the decoration, it gives my home a very cozy atmosphere for these holidays.
