Weekly Update 69 | Giving Everyday Things a Little Personality

Hello Community!

A new week begins. One of the quiet joys of crafting is taking something ordinary from everyday life and giving it a bit of personality. Last week in the community, that spirit showed up in many small and creative ways.

:scissors: New Projects

Where are all the cutest bunnies? Quite a few appeared in the feed last week :rabbit: and each one came with a little twist from its maker.

@Nancy_Sierchio upcycled a slate sign from a local thrift store to create this Easter sign, SILLY BUNNY. Turning a secondhand item into something playful like this is always fun to see.

@Samantha_Bryant shared the cheerful Hoppy Vibes Bunny Card. The lettering on the card was created using the cutting machine’s draw function, giving it a clean hand-drawn feel.

@kimberlyrudy made a lovely Happy Easter Bunny Swing Card. One interesting detail is that 1/4 inch paper strips were glued onto a sheet of cardstock before cutting the design, creating a textured layered effect.

:seedling: A First Share

We also saw a first post from @Nathalie_Sabel, who shared a Cleaning Bucket design with the phrase “divas have to clean.”

It’s a fun reminder that one of the pleasures of crafting is exactly this. Even the most ordinary items in daily life can become a little more personal when you add your own design.

:speech_balloon: Discussions

@MCVDFC started an interesting discussion about Aphantasia and creativity, exploring how people visualize ideas differently.

@Samantha_Bryant asked the community What Would You Love to See in the IdeaStudio Library, inviting suggestions for future design resources.

@Cory_Barger shared a thoughtful discussion about craft markets and preparing before applying, which could be helpful for anyone considering selling their handmade work.

:star2: Community Updates

About last week’s IdeaStudio crash issue: the technical team has implemented a temporary fix, and a full resolution is expected before Thursday this week.

The Easter Sale Save is also live, with discount tiers of $80, $150, and $200. Sharing your cart in the discussion also gives you a chance to earn some Cheers.

The Project Cover Glow-Up Challenge is ongoing as well, with a chance to win a $50 gift card.

And don’t forget the #EasterCraft Challenge :hatching_chick: where you can create your own Easter-themed projects and win up to $100.

Seeing designs appear on thrift finds, greeting cards, or even a simple cleaning bucket is a good reminder of why many of us enjoy crafting in the first place.

What everyday object in your life would you most like to give a little personality to?

Sometimes the most ordinary things are the most fun to redesign.

Thanks for another excellent update, Olivia! I appreciate the features, as well. I hope more members will begin to participate in the Easter Craft & Glow Up Challenges. There were some beautiful projects shared last week, I hope to see even more this week. Happy crafting to all! :rabbit:

As for your question, I would like to give a little more personality to my iCraft. Just have to find the perfect design.

@OliviaZzz, thank you for such a thoughtful recap of everything happening in the community last week. It is always nice to see all of the creativity gathered together in one place like this.

The projects everyone shared were wonderful to see. @Nancy_Sierchio upcycled slate sign is a great example of how something from a thrift store can be transformed into a fun seasonal decoration. @Samantha_Bryant bunny card looked fantastic as well, and the use of the draw function really gave the lettering a unique style. @kimberlyrudy swing card was also impressive, especially with the added texture created from the layered paper strips. It is always inspiring to see how people take similar themes and bring their own creative twist to them.

I also enjoyed seeing @Nathalie_Sabel first post. Turning something as ordinary as a cleaning bucket into something with personality perfectly captures what crafting is all about. It is those little touches that make everyday items more fun and personal.

The discussions last week were great too. @MCVDFC conversation about aphantasia and creativity was very interesting, and @Samantha_Bryant topic about ideas for the IdeaStudio library is a great way to help shape future resources for the community.

To answer your question, one everyday item that definitely needs a little more personality in my world is my iEngrave laser. It works great, but it is currently looking a little plain. I think it is due for a makeover with some custom graphics or engraved panels to give it a bit more character. After all, if we are surrounded by our tools every day, they might as well reflect our creativity as well.

Thanks again for putting together such a great community update. It is always fun to see everything everyone has been working on.
